এ পাড়ায় আমার নাম-ডাক নেই, এককালে যাও একটা ডাক-নাম ছিলো তাও হারিয়ে গেছে। আমি এখানেই একটা কলেজে পড়াই, আর কেউ না দেখলেই রাশি-রাশি কাগজ-পত্রে দুর্বোধ্য আঁক কাটি। একটা আঁকে কঠিন রোগ সেরে যায়, একটা আঁকে চোর ধরা পড়ে, আবার একটা আঁক কষলেই বাড়ির অ্যান্টেনায় একটা পাখি এসে দোল খায় ! তবু এই বয়সেও মাঝে-মাঝেই অঙ্ক আটকে যায়, তখন এই গ্রহান্তরের একটা নির্জন গুহায় বসে ছাদের দিকে চেয়ে কল্পনা করে নি একটা ছোট্ট ঘুলঘুলি, আর একটা চড়ুই এসে তাতে বসছে, আবার উড়ে যাচ্ছে ... এই যে দু-একটা গল্প, সেই চড়ুইটার কাছেই শুনেছিলাম !

For Prashant Rajan
Prashant, my friend, this is for you.
P.S. The last two lines are from a long-forgotten poem by Subodh Sarkar (if my memory is not betraying me).
I know, but I can't deny the effect of those four lines inscribed on my Npur shelf and how I wanted to write something, anything at all.. I remember my friend Ani had many, many poetry books and he would quote random poems to us and we would just sit and listen in awe, I don't even remember all those poems .. but I do owe my writing to many people whom I so ardently wanted to debunk ..
Darun! But please, leave Subodh Sarkar behind, he is no poet. :/
